6 Cool NYC Experience Restaurants

by Lexi Smith

New York City is FULL of restaurants which makes it hard to stroll down a block and not walk by at least one. There are over 25,000 restaurants in all of NYC and I am going to break down some of the best ones to experience in the city.

SEA

The SEA is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and is a great spot for Thai food. The scenery is outstanding and has a real feel of a Thai restaurant. The food isn’t too expensive and is always delicious. This restaurant has a very authentic Thai feel that transports you right out of NYC and into Thailand. There are also swings in the waiting area that make waiting for a table just a bit more fun.

Tao Uptown

Tao Uptown is one of my all time favorite restaurants. It is a bit pricey but is great for birthday celebrations as well as those nights when you are craving a nicer, Asian influenced meal. Again, the scenery is beautiful and feels like you have actually traveled to a different country. The space is very large but it is a very well known, popular restaurant so having a reservation beforehand is your best bet.

Alice’s Tea Cup

Alice’s Tea Cup is one of the best brunch spots in my opinion. They are known for their tea and scones, but they have incredible sandwich and meal options as well. There are multiple locations, one on the Upper East Side, and one on the Upper West Side. Their teas and seasonal scones are to die for and there is always something for everyone.

Sugar Factory

The Sugar Factory is definitely an experience. There are two locations in New York City, one in Midtown, and one in Chelsea. If you want dinner and dessert, you are going to want to go to the Chelsea location, but if you just want dessert, the Midtown location is perfect. From $30 60 oz glass goblet drinks, to crazy unimaginable milkshakes, they have literally every insane dessert you could think of. The Sugar Factory is great for birthdays as well as most celebrations and fun nights out!

The View

This restaurant is one of the fancier ones that is definitely for a special occasion. The View is New York’s only rotating restaurant. It is located on the top floor of the Marriott Marquis Midtown and finishes a 360 degree rotation once every hour. While dining with their Prix-fixe three course menu, you get to see several different views of NYC.

Panna II

Last but certainly not least, Panna II is an Indian restaurant located in the East Village. This is a great spot for interns or college students wanting to have a fun night at dinner, but are on a budget. This place is so popular because of the extravagant lighting dangling all around the ceiling. It creates an amazing atmosphere and perfect Instagram picture opportunities.
